Pose: Season 2

After a highly anticipated second season and an outstanding first season that broke multiple records on television, the exquisite cast of `Pose` returns with an entirely fresh story. Taking place in the 1990s New York right in time for Madonna`s world-wide sensation- “Vogue”- the ballroom starts a new chapter.

With Blanca (MJ Rodriguez) ending up being “Mother of the year” in the previous season, her kids start looking for more career opportunities, deciding it is time they were seen. Angel (Indya Moore), Damon (Ryan Jamaal Swain) and Ricky (Dyllon Burnside) get callbacks for intriguing job propositions while Papi (Angel Bismark Curiel) falls in love unexpectedly. This season, Papi has a bigger part and turns out to be a great friend to Angel who is having a hard time dealing with her personal problems.

We get an inside-look at Elektra (Dominique Jackson) `s new job as well and we encounter a tragic event. Candy (Angelica Ross) and Lulu (Hailie Sahar) get a great amount of money by working in a mysterious place. As for Pray (Billy Porter), he decides to take action and join an activist group that fights AIDS and HIV, by spreading awareness.

Raw, touching and ambitious. Both MJ Rodriguez and Billy Porter were fantastic. The magically crafted plot spun around their performances. Billy Porter was definitely born to play Pray Tell while MJ Rodriguez was show-stopping as Mother Blanca. Ryan Murphy and Janet Mock`s collaboration throughout the entire show was a huge achievement for the series. They did not hesitate to continuously amaze us with their stories.

One of the few moments that were not so good this season was however, Blanca`s date with Adrian from the ninth episode. It felt quite rushed, their relationship escalated quickly as they had just met and later that night, Adrian was already telling her about his `feelings`.

This season felt deeply entertaining; it had a few unique additions that had a huge impact on the audience, making it slightly better than the first one. Gwyneth Horder-Payton, Tina Mabry, Janet Mock, Ryan Murphy, Steven Canals and Jennie Livingston used their directing skills to compose something bigger than the show; they created a loving family to teach us the greatest lesson of all- everybody must stand together.

The tenth episode entitled “In My Heels” was the most memorable from the whole season. It was the most remarkable moment yet; so emotional and inspirational. Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Steven Canals created an astounding screenplay that hit way harder than expected (amazing work concerning many important topics of discussion).

Correlating the episode titles with the songs chosen for the soundtrack was clever. When it comes to the costumes and the impeccably organized choreographies, what can I say other than perfect? It was truly one of my favourite TV shows this year. The ending was so heartfelt, with Blanca finding peace again and Angel and Papi`s news being depicted in the most adorable and unexpected manner possible.
